The 2021 National Book Awards Longlist: Young People’s Literature

The National Book Foundation released their longlist for Young People’s Literature this week and three RBmedia titles are contenders:

A SNAKE FALLS TO EARTH by Darcie Little Badger – A unique, contemporary fantasy with supernatural elements that tells an evocative tale through the intertwining lives of a human teen Lipan Apache girl from Texas and a cottonmouth snake from another world named Oli.

THE MIRROR SEASON by Anna-Marie McLemore – A fantastical contemporary teen romance centered around shared trauma and recovery, told through beautiful prose and magical realism.

FROM A WHISPER TO A RALLYING CRY by Paula Yoo – An eye-opening teen nonfiction look at the killing of Vincent Chin and the civil rights trial that followed along with that event’s place in the greater story of the Asian American movement.

The shortlist will be announced on October 5th and the winner on November 17th.
