W. F. Howes to publish Practical Magic audiobooks ahead of blockbuster film sequel

New audio editions of Alice Hoffman’s bestselling books to be voiced by award-winning narrator Saskia Maarleveld
W. F. Howes, RBmedia’s U.K. publishing brand, has acquired the audio rights to two Alice Hoffman titles: the beloved classic novel Practical Magic, which will be re-recorded as a special 25th anniversary edition, and its acclaimed prequel The Rules of Magic, which will be published in audio format for the very first time.
Both audiobooks will be released this summer ahead of the highly anticipated theatrical debut of Practical Magic 2. The sequel reunites original cast members Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Stockard Channing, and Dianne Wiest, who will reprise their roles from the 1998 cult classic.
Award-winning narrator Saskia Maarleveld has been cast to bring the new audio editions to life. A recent inductee to the Audible Narrator Hall of Fame, Maarleveld is renowned for her versatility, mastery of accents, and extensive body of work spanning more than 700 audiobook recordings.
Alice Hoffman’s hugely popular Practical Magic series follows the magical Owens family and blends romance, witchcraft, and family drama. The franchise now spans four bestselling novels, two major motion pictures, and a forthcoming Broadway adaptation.
Kay Farrell, Acquisitions Editor at W. F. Howes, acquired the U.K. and Commonwealth audio rights from Izzy Redfern at Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

Her work has broad cross-generational and cross-genre appeal, and we’re excited to bring these stories to both longtime fans and new listeners in audio. W. F. Howes’ audiobook editions of Practical Magic and The Rules of Magic are available to preorder now and are set to release on 18 June and 3 September, respectively.
