January 1, 2021
W. F. Howes today announced a surge in downloads for its longtime bestselling Bridgerton series audiobooks following the hit Netflix adaptation. Produced by Recorded Books and published by W. F. Howes, RBmedia’s flagship publishing brand in the UK, Julia Quinn’s historical romance series is a collection of eight novels, each featuring one of the Bridgerton children.
The streaming platform reported that the British period piece is on pace to become one of its biggest hits, as the series was viewed by 63 million households in its first four weeks—which is the fifth-largest showing ever on Netflix. The show has created a massive new audience for the saga of the Bridgerton family, including legions of fans who can’t wait to discover what happens next and are now listening to the audiobook series.
“Witty dialogue, compelling characters, touching romance, good humour—and narrator Rosalyn Landor bringing it all to life! What’s not to like?” said Dominic White, Head of Publishing and Commerce for W. F. Howes. “Julia Quinn is a master. We were obsessed with the series since we first laid our ears on it. We’re excited the audiobooks have won a whole new fan base and look forward to the series’ continued success.”
On the heels of the series’ success on Netflix, W. F. Howes’ Bridgerton audiobooks have gained traction with impressive numbers on leading digital retailer sites. The first book, “The Duke and I,” is currently one of W. F. Howes top-selling titles on Audible, Audiobooks.com, Google, and Apple.
The popularity of “Bridgerton” has catapulted Julia Quinn’s series back into the limelight. “The Duke and I” has been featured as The Times’ Audiobook of the Week in November 2020 and a Daily Mail’s Best Audiobook in January 2021.
The Bridgerton audiobooks are narrated by Rosalyn Landor and available for digital download on Audible, iTunes, Google Play, Audiobooks.com, and wherever digital audiobooks are sold.
