W. F. Howes is set to publish Exploring My Limits, an audiobook original by Dwayne Fields, the first Black Briton to reach the magnetic North Pole.

Voiced by Fields himself, the production will be released exclusively in audiobook format on 7th August from its WFH Original imprint.

“Part travelogue, part memoir, and part passion pitch on the power of nature to drive personal growth and social change, Exploring My Limits charts Fields’ inspirational journey from the ’endz’ of Hackney to the ends of the Earth,” the publisher says.

“In his own words, Fields tells his remarkable, against-all-odds story as a victim of both knife and gun crime and reveals how narrowly escaping death led him to make an important decision that would change his life forever.”

Fields is now an explorer, BAFTA-nominated TV presenter, co-founder of the WeTwo Foundation and was recently appointed UK Chief Scout.

As part of the production, Fields interviews the likes of fellow explorer Ben Fogle and professional footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa, ornithologist Mya-Rose Craig (AKA Birdgirl) and youth workers Ken Hinds and Michael Gosling about the subject of “limits”.

Fields said: “For as long as I can remember, right back to my early years living in Jamaica, I’ve had a deep fascination with nature. To say my life has been full of ups and downs is an understatement, but finding my way back to nature, and then encouraging future generations to do the same, has been truly life changing.

“I’m so delighted to be working on this project with W. F. Howes, getting the chance to tell my life story in my own words and voice and interviewing some of the most extraordinary and courageous people I’ve met along my journey. I believe audiobooks are a really powerful medium and I hope mine will connect with and inspire listeners all over the world.”

The world English-language rights for the book were acquired from Jo Wander Management by W. F. Howes’ acquisitions manager, Laura Smith, who commented: “Dwayne’s story is simply awe-inspiring.
