Alberta Municipal Affairs Launches RBdigital Audiobooks in Libraries Province-Wide

Residents of Alberta, Canada now have unlimited access to many thousands of audiobook titles on the RBdigital app
Landover, MD—April 24, 2019—The Alberta Municipal Affairs Public Library Services Branch has added the RBdigital Audiobooks collection to its province-wide offering. In addition to popular magazines from RBdigital, Alberta residents now have unlimited access to many thousands of audiobooks—all in one app.
This new collection features thousands of in-demand audiobooks that are always immediately available to Albertan library patrons—without holds. Content spans all genres and includes audiobooks by bestselling authors like Miriam Toews, multiple Giller Prize winners including Joseph Boyden and Madeleine Thien, hundreds of Canadian content audiobooks only available from Recorded Books, and much more. New unlimited-access titles are constantly being added to the RBdigital Alberta collection, without any increase to library costs.
“The fastest-growing segment in publishing is audiobooks, seeing a 20%–30% growth over the last few years,” said Jim Schmidt, Senior Vice President of Library Sales for Recorded Books. “With limited library staffing and budgets, it’s difficult for libraries to keep up with the demand for digital media. Unlimited-access audiobooks from RBdigital can help libraries provide a better patron experience by eliminating holds, while driving down the library’s cost per circulation.”
Alberta Municipal Affairs has over 300 public library branches and serves a population of more than four million. Alberta residents can access RBdigital for free through their local library.
