An opera written by acclaimed musician Toshi Reagon and composer Bernice Johnson Reagon—and based on Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents—has a big production at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre in DC, one of the best known mid-sized theatres in the country and “the hottest theater company in town” (Washington Post). The opera premiered in 2017 and has been produced around the world.
